The Banister Shoe Company existed in Newark from 1844 until 1934. Newark Public Library collection. "Contents include15 shoe catalogues, advertising materials for merchants aimed at retailers, a catalogue from Marshall Fields (Chicago) featuring Banister shoes, magazine ads, several photographs, and research on the company by Timothy J. Crist, President of the Newark History Society."
