Title: Improving Awareness and Access to Data Support Services

Abstract: Data services play a critical role in supporting scholarly research, and demand for these services is expected to increase as data-intensive research becomes the norm in a growing number of disciplines. In spring 2023, Rutgers, along with a select cohort of North American universities, agreed to participate in a two-year study sponsored by Ithaka S+R to evaluate institutional support for research data and develop strategies for coordinating and improving access to data services. Using a mixed methods approach, the project included a comprehensive inventory of data support services offered across the university and interviews with select researchers to gather information about their practices, support needs, and experiences working with research data. This presentation will offer a brief overview of the study, report of the team's findings, and discussion about the next phase of the project. All are welcome to attend but those who work with or support users of research data are strongly encouraged to attend and contribute ideas on how the Libraries' can improve community awareness and use of data support services.
