What is it?

Medieval art refers to art and architecture produced in Europe and the Middle East from the time of the collapse of the Roman Empire in 5th century CE to the Renaissance. It encompasses time periods and styles including Early Christian, Migration Period, Byzantine, Romanesque, and Gothic. Medieval works were produced in media such as illuminated manuscripts, sculpture, stained glass, mosaics, and metalwork.
