Black Panther Party

America: History & Life

America: History & Life is the standard database for secondary articles in all periods of American history.

To get started, type “black panther*” in the first search box. Use the quotes to search as a phrase and the *, the wildcard, will search both the singular and the plural. Don’t select a “field” in the drop-down to the right of the search box and the database will search all the fields of the records in the database, the title, subject headings, abstract of the article, etc.

Then focus your search by adding additional terms on the boxes below. The more terms you search, the more specific your search becomes. You can also broaden your search by combining terms within a search box. For example: “merritt college” or “oakland city college.”

To search a person, type the last name, first name in the search box and select People as your field/search type on the right.

To save an article, click the folder icon to the right. To see the articles in your folder, click the folder icon at the top of the page. Then you can select some or all of them and print, email, save as a text file, or export to a citation manager, such as EasyBib or RefWorks.

If you have any questions about America: History & Life, click Email to the right.
