The John Cotton Dana Library has served as a selective U.S. federal depository library (#0366A, Senatorial designation) in the 10th U.S. Congressional District of New Jersey since 1966. Located on the Newark campus of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, the library selects and maintains its federal depository collection to support the research, teaching, and learning needs of the faculty and students on campus. It also serves the government information needs of the constituents in the District and the Northern New Jersey’s general and business community.
The Dana Library has also been a designated depository since 1970 for New Jersey state documents distributed by the New Jersey State Library. It receives many, but not all, state documents.
The government publications collection in the library is open to all users regardless of age or affiliation. Free access to online government information resources and librarian assistance are provided to the faculty and students on campus as well as users from the local community.
