Ovid Journals: AI Article Summary Beta

On the Ovid platform (ovidsp.ovid.com), Ovid has introduced an AI Article Summary Beta feature for articles. At present, it is only available for articles published in proprietary Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW) journals. LWW and Ovid are both part of Wolters Kluwer. The AI Article Summary is designed to highlight the key elements of each article, making it easier for users to quickly understand the main points and key takeaways. It makes it easier for users to find articles relevant to their research, but users should verify any claims made in an AI-generated summary by reading the full article.

When you are viewing an article's HTML full text, if it is possible to generate an AI Article Summary for the article, you will see an "AI Article Summary Beta" link. Select this link to generate an AI Article Summary.

Ovid says that the AI Summary Beta feature was tested with clinical experts, who reviewed generated summaries of their own articles and provided feedback. A disclaimer at the end of each AI-generated summary informs users, "Disclaimer: AI Article Summary provides a short, machine-generated summary of an article. Outputs generated through AI-enabled features are not tested, reviewed or verified by Wolters Kluwer Health or endorsed or guaranteed to be current, accurate, or complete. Users of the AI-enabled features should independently review and verify all outputs as to appropriateness for any or all use cases or applications and authorized use."
