Department of Food Science
Our mission, as a department with a basic science orientation, is to generate and disseminate knowledge that is applied to solve important problems related to food and health. We are student-centered and committed to excellence in education, research, and service.
Department of Nutritional Sciences
The interdisciplinary Department of Nutritional Sciences emphasizes (1) both undergraduate and graduate education, (2) research into basic issues of nutrition, and (3) public service that uses research results to improve the nutritional habits, general health, and overall well-being of the populace. Special departmental emphases include molecular, biochemical, physiological, clinical, psychological, and cultural dimensions of human nutrition.
New Jersey Institute for Food, Nutrition, and Health
Vision: The IFNH is the organizational hub for interdisciplinary research in food, nutrition, and health at Rutgers University.
Core Purpose: Unite faculty, staff, and students from across the university to work on serious, but preventable, health problems in our society.
Mission: Make New Jersey the "Healthy State" and a model for the nation.
Food, Nutrition, and Health (Rutgers NJAES)
"Cooperative Extension, a unit of Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES), addresses diverse unmet issues of nutrition and health, from teaching our most vulnerable residents about healthy eating on a budget, to promoting the benefits of exercise, and improving financial health."
Rutgers Center for Lipid Research
A center of the New Jersey Institute for Food, Nutrition, and Health that promotes multidisciplinary research on the biochemical, biophysical, cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in lipid metabolism, and extending this information to the underpinnings of lipid-based diseases such as obesity, lipodystrophy, diabetes, and heart disease.
Rutgers Food Innovation Center
Created by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station at Rutgers University in 2001. The Rutgers Food Innovation Center is a unique business incubation and economic development accelerator program, which provides business and technology expertise to startup and established food companies in the mid-Atlantic region, and utilizes its outreach capacity to reach food and agribusinesses throughout the world.
