Basic Sources

For New Jersey data, start with the links to Census information from the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Economics and Business

US Small Business Administration Small Business Profiles for the States and Territories are available for 2014.

The Economic Research Service of the US Department of Agriculture has compiled State Fact Sheets: New Jersey

Demographic and Economic Profile: New Jersey: 2009 from the Rural Policy Research Institute.

You can also try out the interactive "Taking Care of Business" Site Evaluator map tool from the NJ Geographic Information Network.

Housing and Construction

The New Jersey Association of Realtors provides the monthly Local Market Updates by county, with median sale price for homes sold, as well as the annual New Jersey Home Buyer and Seller Profile.

The state Labor Department publishes extracts of Census Bureau data for Residential Housing Units Authorized By Building Permits, broken down by county and municipality.

Health and Healthcare

The Kaiser State Health Facts Website provides much data related to Demographics and the Economy for New Jersey (and you can make comparisons with other states).

Many aspects of child well-being in New Jersey are profiled by the KIDS COUNT Data Center.
