This guide helps users to learn how to use the new and updated PubMed and show them what the new features are and where to find some of the old features.

How to Apply Filters?

On your search results page, you may apply filters which are located on the left side of the screen to narrow your search. You may limit your results by: Year, Text Availability, Article Attribute, Article Type, Publication Date, Species, Language, Sex, Age, and so on. Only some are listed by default. You need to click Additional filters link to see more options to display them for selection. Below are a few common filters to apply:

Note: If you want to find articles published during a certain period of time, you may customize the publication date by searching in Advanced Search mode and choose Date - Publication  to specify your desired date range. This function used to be available in the Filters bar in legacy PubMed. See illustration below:
