Need Media?: Getting and Accessing Films for Your Courses

Before you can create a clip you need to have a Kanopy account. If you have not already created one, once you have logged into the Rutgers Kanopy Collection from https://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/databases/kanopy click on the person icon in the upper right of the subsequent page.

 

On the next page create a Kanopy account by supplying an email and password. This should not be the same as your Rutgers NetID.

 

 

Once you have a Kanopy ID and have logged in, select "My Lists" from the upper left. If you have not previously created a playlist, or would like to creat a new list, just type in the playlist name.

Once you have a Kanopy Playlist that you would like to use, go to the video from which you'd like to create a clip and select the "Playlist" option. Use the "+" option on the right to add the video to your Playlist.

Select the video from you Playlist, and then click on the verticle ellipe (...)  below and then select "Edit."

Either enter your clip start and stop times manually, or use the scroll bar to set them. Then click on "Save Change." IF YOU DO NOT DO SO YOUR CHANGES WILL BE LOST.

Once you have saved a clip to a Playlist, you can just go to "My Lists" from the top left of the screen, select the Clip, and then select the "Share" option.

You can then choose to either copy the clip link into your Canvas site, or use the "Embed" link to embed the clip into your Canvas site.
