Spanish and Latin American Literature and Film: Cinema

Use this guide for researching the fiction, poetry, drama and cinema of Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Finding Videos in the Library Catalog

Helpful Hint: Use the Advanced Search in the Library Catalog to help you find videos in the library.

Notice that films in the Library Catalog always have the term "videorecording" after their titles.

So you can use a title keyword search in IRIS for the word "videorecording" in addition to your subject keywords. The search below will find all 55 films in the libraries from or about Argentina:

Another way to find videos is to select "Visual Materials" from the Format menu. You can also choose "Media" from the location menu to locate those videos held by the Media Center.

Finding Film Criticism

Helpful hint: use the appropriate subject headings in a Subject search in the Library Catalog to get a more focused results list. Some useful subject headings are:

Motion pictures -- Spain [Mexico, Latin America, etc.] -- History
Spain [Mexico, etc.] -- In motion pictures
