About this Guide

This guide offers instructions, guidelines, and best practices for using LibChat.

LibChat is a real-time chat reference platform that is fully integrated with LibAnswers. It provides:

  • Support for multiple queues and operators
  • Customizable and easy to embed chat widgets
  • System and personal canned responses
  • Ability to transfer chats to LibAnswers for email follow-up
  • Transcripts, user ratings, and statistics reporting

 

Emergency Coverage & Chat Directory

if we're experiencing higher than normal chat volume or there is an unexpected absence with volume that is higher than the present chat participants can accommodate, please request emergency backup via chat_ref@libraries.rutgers.edu

If you notice an absence and it's not an emergency or if you need to request a schedule change please contact your campus chat coordinator or the chat coordinators group at chat_coordinators@libraries.rutgers.edu
