This guide covers many information resources on COVID-19 from a public health perspective. It is constantly being updated with new material, so check in often for the latest information.

Overview

COVID-19 is the official and abbreviated name for Coronavirus Disease 2019 named by World Health Organization (WHO) in February 2020, formerly called 2019-nCov. The virus that causes the outbreak of COVID-19 is named "severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2" or SARS-CoV-2 by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) Coronaviridae Study Group (https://talk.ictvonline.org/).
