Tools for Finding Information About a Company

To research a company's policies on employee culture, morale, satisfaction, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), as well as how they motivate employee performance, you can explore a variety of resources, including databases, websites, and reports.

1. Company Websites

  • Careers Page: Often provides insights into company culture, values, DEI statements, and any employee development programs. (Example: Glassdoor - Companies and Review)
  • Sustainability/Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Reports: These may include information about DEI initiatives, employee well-being, and corporate social responsibility programs. (Example: Target: Sustainability and Governance)
  • Press Releases: Check for any recent updates on employee programs, DEI, or new policies related to morale and motivation. (Example: Starbucks Press Release: Starbucks Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Timeline)

2. Business Databases via Rutgers Libraries website

These databases often include case studies, research articles, and company reports that cover various aspects of corporate culture and employee engagement:

  • MarketLine: Provides information for 30,000 company profiles, SWOT analyses, financial deals, and market share. News and deals are updated daily, and new reports are added weekly.
  • PrivCO: Provides information for 30,000 company profiles, SWOT analyses, financial deals and market share. News and deals are updated daily, and new reports are added weekly.
  • Data Axle Reference Solutions (formerly ReferenceUSA)Contains a directory of nearly 16 million U.S. public and private companies.  It provides prospects and competitors by industry, location, and size.  It also lists lines of business, senior executives, and their titles.
  • Statista: Provides data about employees by race and ethnicity, workforce diversity and other industry statistics and trends.

3. Employee Review and Rating Websites

These websites aggregate employee reviews and often provide insight into morale, workplace culture, and DEI initiatives from an employee perspective:

  • Glassdoor: Provides employee reviews of companies, including ratings on culture, diversity, work-life balance, and management style. 
  • Indeed: Similar to Glassdoor, Indeed has employee reviews and ratings that can offer insights into the company's work environment and DEI practices.
  • LinkedIn: You can explore company pages, employee posts, and discussions related to company culture, DEI, and employee morale.
