Created for the course Academic Mentoring, this guide aims to assist first year students at SEBS as they try to navigate Rutgers. Updated in 2020 with a strong focus on remote learning. EXAMPLES: asking for quick help, locating or downloading full text of a known article, reporting or verifying an error, clarifying  a minor detail, help to decide what database to use, short literature search, etc.

University Operating Status

  • Rutgers University has moved to remote instruction, with the exception of clinical instruction, for the fall semester. More information >

Library Operating Status

  • The library is open and operating but access to library buildings is restricted to library staff providing essential services. Public services such as reference and instruction are available online. 

Access to Library Resources

Returning Library Materials

  • Due dates for all Rutgers-owned materials currently out on loan have been extended to September 30, 2020. Patrons may return borrowed materials at select libraries. Return proceedures vary by location.

Interlibrary Loan

  • Interlibrary loan is available. Materials can requested via ILLiad and scheduled for library pickup or home delivery. E-Borrow and UBorrow services are currently unavilable.

Research Assistance

  • Research assistance is available via live chat Monday thru Friday 10am-10pm and via email.
