Spring 2024 Art Contest

The Library Student Advisory Board is hosting a student Art Contest in Spring 2024!

Theme: Design Your Own Book Cover

Description: Book covers provide a visual window into the story behind the cover. Design a book cover on a topic of your choice to be displayed in the library exhibit case. Two winners will be chosen to receive prizes.

Some topics to consider, but feel free to get creative and choose your own!

  • Your life story
  • Your favorite part of campus
  • How you use the library
  • A re-design of your favorite book

Awards

  • 1st place winner will receive a Huion Inspiroy 2 M drawing tablet with stylus.
  • Popular vote winner will receive a set of 12 Copic Ciao Alcohol Markers and a hardcover mixed media sketchpad.

Eligibility and requirements:

  • Artwork must be an original work of the student, created by hand without the use of AI..
  • Artwork is limited to one entry per student.
  • Art can represent the following mediums: drawing and painting (i.e., pencil, charcoal, pastels, colored pencils, oil paints, acrylics, water media, mixed media/collage) and original digital creations (which may not include AI).
    • Digital artwork
      • Digital artwork should be submitted as a high resolution (e.g. minimum of 2,400 pixels by 2,400 pixels) image of the student’s original artwork.
      • Each file must be under 5 Megabytes in size.
      • Artwork must be submitted in .jpg or .png format.
    • Physical artwork
      • Should be no larger than 10" by 10"
      • Must be dropped off in the library upon arrangement
  • Submissions that violate any copyright laws or contain offensive content will be disqualified.

Judging Criteria and Process

A panel of five students from the Library Student Advisory Board will choose a winner based on the following categories:

  • originality,
  • interpretation of theme,
  • creative techniques,
  • composition, and
  • overall appearance.

Additionally, all students are invited to view the works in the library exhibit case and cast their vote for a winner between April 8th and 29th.
