Primary Navigation Menus in Left Panel

Place the primary navigation menus in the left panel.  One study found that navigation times were faster when the primary menu was located in the left panel.  Users preferred having the primary menu, secondary and tertiary menus together.  The best performance and preference was achieved when all three menus were placed in the left panel.

Provide a "List of Contents" on Long Pages

For longer pages with multiple content sections, create a short clickable list of sections at the top of the page.  These are called "anchors". Anchors provide a preview of the content so that viewers can determine if the page contains the desired information.  Anchors also provide quick access to the information.
