Welcome
Ian Marshall, MD, associate professor of pediatrics and Gloria Bachmann, MD, professor and interim chair of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences, lead the health and educational efforts of the PROUD Gender Center of New Jersey at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in partnership with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Collaboratively, they coordinate and provide care for transgender individuals at different stages of gender affirmation treatment, from adolescence through senior adulthood. They also assist in the education and training of medical students, residents, colleagues, and other health professionals in the care of transgender and non-binary individuals.

Our Mission
The PROUD Gender Center of New Jersey and the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School work to address and improve the healthcare needs of the transgender and gender non-binary community through comprehensive services in a welcoming environment. We are committed to providing integrated care, training, research, education, and outreach in support of transgender people.
Along with our academic and community partners, we aim to:
- Enhance inpatient and outpatient clinical care;
- Expand training and enhance competence among healthcare providers and staff; and
- Create educational materials that are sensitive, reassuring, age- and developmentally appropriate for transgender and gender non-binary individuals, their peers, and their families.
Our Health Services
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School provides a full suite of culturally competent, specialized health services through a collaborative team of physicians on faculty and through our academic partners.
