Bloomberg Professional

Bloomberg Professional is a terminal-based resource, which means that it is not available remotely.

There are several locations at Rutgers with Bloomberg Terminals:

• One is located in the Carr Library on the Livingston campus. It is available to a single user at a time (including the general public) on a first-come, first-serve basis when the library is open. Click here for current hours. 
• There are also four Bloomberg terminals inside the Rutgers Business School located at 100 Rockafeller Road on the Livingston campus in Piscataway on the 2nd Floor "Bloomberg Finance Lab" (next to the Student Lounge). These are available to all RBS students and require a Net ID logon. Anyone using them for training must bring their own headsets.
• Additional Bloomberg terminals are available for students who are enrolled in the Mathematical Finance Program (Rm. 103 Hill Center) and Financial Statistics and Risk Management Program (Rm. 480 Hill Center). Card swipes are required to enter.
• Rutgers Business School-Newark has one Bloomberg terminal located at OIT computer lab (422).

• Factiva is a vast repository of business news, equity stock quotes and market indices (both current and historical).
• Marketline provides global consumer product market data, summaries of M&A and financial deals and worldwide economic and demographic indicators.
• Mergent Online contains up to 25 years of annual and quarterly financial data, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and financial ratios for over 22,000 US and foreign public companies.
• WRDS - access to COMPUSTAT, CRSP and other datasets for financial research, including:

  • IBES Estimates

  • IBES Guidance

  • Insider Filing Feed

  • Datastream & Worldscope

  • 13f Ownership

  • Mutual Fund Ownership

  • SDC Mergers & Acquisitions

  • SDC Global New Issues

The Bloomberg Professional Terminal at the Carr Library is the only one that is available to the public who use the Carr Library in-person. Thanks to the generous gift from Bloomberg, L.P, the Bloomberg Terminal is housed in the Career Collections Room at the Carr Library.  It is solely maintained and supported by Bloomberg, L.P.

This terminal does not allow data to be downloaded on to the computer or a portable device.  If you need to download data, please use the ones located at Rutgers Business School, Dept of Mathematics and Dept of Statistics, provided you are currently enrolled in their programs.

To use the Bloomberg Terminal at the Carr Library, please use the login ID and password posted underneath the monitor.  After you login, you will need to login with your personal ID.  The box below explains how to create an individual login ID. Be prepared to have a phone ready in order to receive a text message.

If you are using Bloomberg Professional for the first time, you will need to create a personal log in to access Bloomberg Professional after you login to the terminal using the ID and password posted on the sign.

Then follow these steps to create your own personal log in:

1. Open Bloomberg
2. Press <CONN/DFLT>
3. Press <GO> - do not put anything in the Login Name or Password fields
4. Choose a method for validation (SMS Text Message)
5. Bloomberg will send you a code - enter in this validation code
6. Answer any additional personal information questions
7. Now, log in with your personal username and password

Use this personal username and password to access any of the Bloomberg Professionals terminals in the future.

Please note that you will have to log in at least once every 30 days for the username and password to remain valid. Otherwise you will have to create a new one.
