Douglass Library: Space & Technology for Media Production

Fordham Lab (Walk-in Access only)

The Fordham Lab is composed of two spaces – the Multimedia Lab on the ground floor, with 16 workstations, and the Fordham Commons located in the opposite corner of the same floor, with 9 workstations. The details of available software and hardware can be found on this guide to multimedia creation resources at the Fordham Commons

All workstations are intended for the creation and manipulation of multimedia projects by members of the Rutgers University Community including students, faculty, administrators, and staff. Recognizing that the lab is a shared resource for the Rutgers community, and that working with digital multimedia materials requires extraordinary computing and time resources, there are two special restrictions:

  • Users working on projects must provide their own storage medium, e.g. an external hard drive, to save and preserve their project.
  • Absolutely no food or drink is allowed while working with these special multimedia workstations. Capped water bottles only.

Walk-in access is available for both the Lab and the Commons. Please note their opening hours posted on the Douglass Library website. The Fordham Lab may also be used for classes, during which it is inaccessible for walk-in users.

Special Equipment Loans

At Douglass Library, audiovisual recording equipment and related accessories are available for borrowing to Rutgers students, faculty, and staff. Details are available on the booking form. Requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance and are only processed on weekdays.
