1991 - 1992 Theme: Violence Against Women Violates Human Rights. Women activists from around the world came together at the Center for Women's Global Leadership at the first International Women's Global Leadership Institute (WGLI).

1993 Theme: Democracy in the Family, Democracy of Families, Democracy for Every Body

1994 Theme: Awareness, Accountability, Action: Violence Against Women Violates Human Rights

1995 Theme: Bringing Women's Human Rights Home. The same theme was used on 4 major conferences (Vienna, Cairo, Copenhagen and Beijing, the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995.

1996 Theme: Bringing Women's Human Rights Home: Realizing Our Visions

1997 Theme: Demand Human Rights in the Home and the World, which was working towards the 1998 Global Campaign for Women's Human Rights. 

1998 Theme: Building a Culture of Respect for Human Rights

1999 Theme: Fulfilling the Promise of Freedom from Violence

2000 Theme: Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Campaign.

2001 Theme: Racism and Sexism: No More Violence.

2002 Theme: Creating a Culture that Says No to Violence Against Women

2003 Theme: Violence Against Women Violates Human Rights: Maintaining the Momentum Ten Years After Vienna (1993–2003), was focused on reviewing changes that had occurred in the 10 years since the Vienna Declaration.

2004 - 2005 Theme: For the Health of Women, for the Health of the World: No More Violence. It focused on the "intersection of violence against women and the HIV/AIDS pandemic

2006 Theme: Celebrate 16 Years of 16 Days: Advance Human Rights

2007 Theme: Demanding Implementation, Challenging Obstacles: End Violence Against Women.

2008 Theme: Human Rights for Women - Human Rights for All:

2009 Theme: Commit, Act, Demand: We CAN End Violence Against Women

2010 Theme: Structures of Violence: Defining the Intersections of Militarism and Violence Against Women

2011 - 2014 Theme: From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World" Let's Challenge Militarism and End Violence Against Women!

2015 -2016 Theme: From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Make Education Safe for All!

2019 -2020 Theme: Ending Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the World of Work

2021 - 2022 Theme: Domestic Violence and the World of Work. This year marked the 30th anniversary of the campaign. A special anniversary theme of Ending Femicide was also launched.
