Physics Seminar - resources from past semesters

This guide condenses materials prepared by Bonnie Fong for Physics Seminars from 2017-2022

Citation managers

Citation managers enable you to organize the citations you find by exporting them from the Rutgers University Libraries’ databases and placing them in folders.  When you write your paper, you can use the citation manager to insert brief citations in the text and to prepare a bibliography in APA, MLA, or almost any other style.  The citation managers on the right are Web-based and include the  button in the citation record.  Clicking on “Search for Article” will lead you to the article in full text, if it is available.

TIP

As you gather your sources, compile your References section. Complete this section before you begin writing your paper! Why?

  • This will ensure that you have copied down all the necessary citation components of your book, article, Web site, etc.
  • It will make your life much easier when you need to do in-text citations since authors and dates are already neatly organized on your reference page.
  • It decreases the chance that you'll include an in-text citation for a source, but then forget to include it within the reference section.
