Reading Lists: Documentation and Resources

A persistent link is a URL that connects directly to a specific item on the web.  Students may access an online reading list item from within Canvas by adding a persistent link in a Canvas module which, when clicked, takes viewers to that item.

Here's how:  

In the Canvas course, click "Reading List" in the Canvas course navigation menu:

In the Reading list, click on the ellipsis (three dots); click Create a shareable link:

A window pops up with a message about the link; click "COPY TO CLIPBOARD":  Then click "CLOSE".

Back in the Canvas course, add an External URL to the Canvas module. 
Paste the URL from the clipboard into the URL box.
Enter a Page Name.
Click Add item:

The external URL appears in the Canvas module; click to open:

The specific item appears on the page and the viewer clicks on it to open:
