PIVOT-RP Database

Pivot-RP provides a comprehensive database of funding opportunities worldwide and across all disciplines.

Users can:
- perform funding searches
- create their own weekly email funding alerts
- save lists of funding opportunities
- search for potential research colleagues

Pivot is available to any Rutgers faculty, staff, or students with a Net ID and password.

1. Navigate to the Libraries home page.  The quickest way to do this is to enter a search for 'Rutgers Libraries' into a search engine.  

2. From the Libraries home page, navigate to 'Databases' beneath the Quicksearch box.

3. From the Databases page, click on the letter P in the alphabetical list, and navigate to the PIVOT database.

4. You will be prompted to login with your institutional credentials

5.  When you log in for the first time, Pivot will prompt you to “Claim Your Profile.” Claiming your profile allows the database to understand your funding needs and match you with various funding opportunities and collaborators.

6. While logged in to PIVOT, before you begin text-based searching, it's interesting to browse this interactive chart of keywords matched to funding opportunities:

7. From the home page/dashboard, click on Advanced Search link beneath the large, single search box. 
You will then see a three-tiered search platform:

We recommend using the Advanced Search option to search for funding. This option is the most targeted and efficient way to search for funding. We do not recommend using the “Quick search” option, because it tends to return broad results. 

From here, you can begin to populate the search fields using Boolean operators.

8. Once you've performed your search, note that you can track, share, and export an item or items on the results list.
