RUL-NB Librarian Goals, Framework, and Actions

RUTGERS UNIVERSITY—NEW BRUNSWICK LIBRARIES

LIAISON RESPONSIBILITIES GOALS, FRAMEWORK, and ACTIONS

This document outlines a framework for the responsibilities, goals, and actions of liaison librarians from all New Brunswick Libraries (NBL) at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Liaison librarians provide information and research services to our users both in traditional and emerging ways, including engagement with campus communities, subject-specific reference assistance, and teaching introductory and advanced information literacy classes. Liaison services are integral to connecting and collaborating with campus communities and attaining NBL’s strategic goals.

Goals:

  • Represent the libraries in campus units to deliver customized and meaningful services grounded in the educational mission of the RUL/academic unit/university.
  • Articulate and anticipate the information needs of campus units to RUL administration and strategize/mobilize for options/solutions.
  • Foster close intellectual relationships between the libraries and the campus in order to contemplate a future with confidence.
