Two anti-war films by Peter Watkins -- the first, Culloden, is a dramatic reenactment of the Battle of Culloden in 1746 in Scotland between the rebellious highland Scotch forces of Bonnie Prince Charlie (Charles Stuart) and the regular British Army sent to Scotland to put down the rebellion. The battle, won by the British, was one of the most mishandled and brutal in British history. The War Game fictionally enacts the carnage and destruction that would result from a thermonuclear war between the Soviet Union and England.
