This LibGuide is intended to provide links to websites, books, and media tailored to healthcare providers working with geriatric patients and their families. At this time some resources are restricted to Smith Library and RWJ users only.

Patient Information

USA.Gov-Senior Citizen Resources - Helps users access all government sites that provide services and information relavant to senior citizens, find links to health information and eldercare resources, and links to gov't sites such as the Social Security Administration, Health Care Financing Administration, the Administration on Aging, the Department of Veterans Affairs, etc. There are also links to all federal agencies and all 50 States.

CDC - Healthy Aging - Good information for the health care consumers and health care provider on aging and related conditions and diseases.

Geriatric Mental Health Foundation - This site was established by the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry to raise awareness of psychiatric and mental health disorders affecting the elderly, eliminate the stigma of mental illness and treatment, promote healthy aging strategies, and increase access to quality mental health care for the elderly.

HealthyNJ - Healthcare information for New Jersey consumers, policy makers, and health care professionals

HeathyNJ-Aging - Geriatric healthcare information for consumers, policy makers, and health care professionals with an emphasis on New Jersey resources and services.

Medicare Rights Center - The Medicare Rights Center is a national, nonprofit consumer service organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and advocacy, educational programs and public policy initiatives.

National Institute on Aging-Health Information - Information, resouces, and tips on aging, care giving, medications, dietary supplements, and diseases. Also included on this site is public service ads, clinical trials Information, and links to other governement health resouces. The site is also available in Spanish. Copies also are provided in PDF format where applicable. Free print versions are available for online ordering.  

NIHSeniorHealth -  This easy-to-use website features health and wellness information for older adults from the National Institutes of Health. The site also incorporates a number of short videos on many health topics.

NOAH New York Online Access to Health - Aging - NOAH provides links to high quality consumer health information in English and also Spanish.
Seniors Health Topics at MedlinePlus - Information, videos, and links to geriatric health resources sites from the National Library of Medicine.
