They're coming to get you the library, Barbara!
Rutgers University Libraries has a robust film collection. Use the Catalog Quick Search below to search for the film you need by title (use the "Select a search type" drop-down menu" to select "Title"). If the Catalog Quick Search box does not work, you can also use this link to access the library catalog.
The Paul Robeson Library at Rutgers-Camden does not maintain a media collection. If Rutgers has a copy of your film, you will need to request that it be sent from New Brunswick or Newark. To request a film, click on the "Special Request" button in the catalog (located below the cover image). Please allow 2-3 days to have material sent to Camden.
Here are some films you can request from the library at Rutgers:
The following films will be placed on reserve at the Robeson Library. These can be watched inside the library only:
28 Days Later (blu-ray)
The following films are available for viewing immediately via Swank Digital Campus,a streaming media service provided by the Libraries:
Let the Right One In
Night of the Living Dead
Psycho
Rosemary's Baby
The Shining
If Rutgers doesn't have a copy of the film you would like to watch, your local public library is another great resource. Public library systems with a lot of branches are particularly helpful for this, because they can transfer films between branches.
If you live in the Rutgers residence halls, or if your permanent residence is in Camden, you are probably eligible for a library card at the Camden County Library System. There is a branch of the Camden County public library on the Rutgers-Camden campus; it is located in the lower level of the Paul Robeson Library, with a separate entrance on 5th street.
The Camden County Library System has many of the films from your list, including:
If don't live on campus or in Camden, you probably have a public library near you!
If your film is not available at Rutgers or your local public library, or if you'd rather pay for convenience, you might be able to find a legal streaming copy of your film. If you already use a subscription service such as Netflix or Amazon Prime, check there first!
If you do not subscribe to a streaming film service, Amazon Instant Video is probably your best bet for low-cost video rentals. Amazon Instant Video can provide access to the following films and more:
The Amityville Horror ($2.99)
Dawn of the Dead ($2.99)
Evil Dead ($2.99)
The Shining ($2.99)
The Dead Zone ($2.99)
28 Days Later ($2.99)
The Thing ($2.99)
Night of the Living Dead ($2.99)
