This guide was put together with the goal of helping students in Instructor Mary Kate Costa-Matthews’ Spring 2019 English Composition course get started with finding a few sources for their research paper assignment. It is intended to complement and supplement the April 17, 2018 library research instruction session.

The mission of bibliographic instruction is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to do scholarly research. As students of Mary Kate Costa-Matthew's Spring 2018 English 102 class., your mission is to take what you learn today and put it into practice in completing your assignments. Even then, the mission is far from over. As undergraduates, you will find that these skills will frequently be put to use since what you learn here can be applied to many other classes. Once you have the basics down, it will be up to you to continue to practice these skills.
