Finding Books and Media

Search the Library Catalog for the following items in our collection:

  • Books and e-books
  • Journal titles such as American Historical Review (AHR), NOT journal articles published in the AHR
  • Films, DVDs, CDs
  • Archival Collections
  • Database titles, such as America History and Life

Search WorldCat (OCLC) tp verify titles that exist, but NOT in Rutgers collection. it is an excellent source for verifying a title and holdings.

If the title you wish is checked out, or when Rutgers does not own it, use E-Z Borrow. If the title is NOT available in E-Z Borrow, try the Interlibrary Loan Services

Boolean Searching:

  • Use "AND" between search terms to retrieve fewer results (narrow down your search) and find only titles that include all of the terms specified.
  • Use "OR" to retrieve more results (broaden your search results) and find titles that include any of the terms specified. Using synonyms or similar words separated by "OR" may also help expand your search.
