Labor unions are increasingly using social media--Twitter, Facebook, blogging, Flickr, and other interactive web tools--as a communications tool. Social media can be an integral part of communicating with members, the community, the media. Social media tools have been used as part of organizing drives, contract campaigns, and, most recently, as a way to help union members affected by Hurricane Sandy.
