Many state and federal government agencies have a wealth of labor related information.
Bureau of Labor Statistics
If you need data on employment, unemployment, wages and earnings, benefits, productivity, workplace injuries, etc., this is the place to go. Be prepared to spend some time negotiating this web site and reading about the statistical series available. The A – Z topic index (upper right hand corner) is useful.
Department of Labor
This is a huge web site. You can find FAQ’s and full text of laws & regulations on wages and hours, workplace safety & health, retirement & health benefits, union membership, plus information on regulations that affect hiring and termination practices. DOL full-text publications include the Occupational Outlook Handbook (see below) and the Monthly Labor Review. To find what you need, use the audience-oriented portals (left-hand of homepage) or the A – Z topic index.
New Jersey Dept. of Labor and Workforce Development
State employment and labor statistics, state laws, career information.
