A government-sponsored gateway to the statistics of 100 agencies. Not as detailed as one might wish, but good for browsing and getting ideas about what is available.

US Census

Online site for census information, including population, social and economic characteristics, ancestry, economic census (business establishments and so forth), and information about state and local governments.  Besides the full American Factfinder search engine, some interesting subjects covered by specialized searches are: School District Data ; QuickFacts about states, counties, and cities; the American Community Survey; and the County Business Patterns page, which includes business patterns by zip code as well as county.

Bureau of Labor Statistics

Labor force, employment and unemployment data, consumer and other price indexes (inflation measures), and much more

Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)

Economic statistics for the US, including US gross domestic product, consumer expenditures, balance of payments, and much more.  Interactive data mapping available for some series.

Criminal Justice
