Checklist of Common Errors on the Business Forum Library Assignment

[  ] NOT COMING TO CLASS to learn how to do the assignment.  Not contacting a librarian if you have questions.

[  ] NOT USING THE CORRECT COMPANY, which is an S&P 500 company assigned to you in your Blackboard course shell FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT ONLY

[  ] NOT USING THE SOURCES FROM   http://libguides.rutgers.edu/bf

[  ] SWOT: Selecting a paragraph from the Company Overview or the SWOT Strengths section instead of the SWOT overview.

[  ] Trade Pub: Choosing an article from a general business magazine such as Fortune, or from the MarketLine Company Profile instead of a trade publication.  Use the SOURCE TYPES limiter on the left-hand side of the page in Business Source Premier to choose TRADE PUBLICATIONS.    Related error: Article for the wrong company.  Remember to de-select SWOT.

[  ] Cite: Using other citation styles or incomplete or incorrect citations copied from some other source.  Business Source Premier produces a correct citation in MLA 8th.

[  ] Mergent: The most common error: financials from some other source, even though the directions say very clearly to use Mergent Online.

[  ] IBISWorld: Paragraph from Industry Definition, or for the company from the Major Companies section instead of the INDUSTRY OUTLOOK section.
