Search Tips for QuickSearch (and other resources)

Searching in QuickSearch

This search in QuickSearch uses the search tips in the box above. Click the search terms in the search box below to see the search result in QuickSearch.

Since QuickSearch searches so broadly, across a large number of library resources, you often get a very large search result. Browse through your initial search result and see if it gives you ideas about directions you might take with your final proposal. Here you could add AND nutrition*, for example. Try different search terms, see what is useful and what is not. Take your time, be creative.

You can use the limits and filters on the left to focus a search result. For example, here you could limit by Creation Date to recently published sources. You can also limit search results to only scholarly articles in Peer Reviewed Journals.

Limit by Resource Type; you might find helpful visual sources, for instance. Limit by subjects relevant to your proposal. Again, take your time, try out different limits, see what is useful as your proposal develops.

In your search results, click the title of a source that seems useful to see the full record of the source. This will include a good description of the source. With books, ebooks, often a table of contents. In the brief or the full record, click the  icon to get an APA citation. Click the  to email the record of the source.

Sign in when searching the Libraries for full access to Rutgers-restricted resources. Signing in also allows for creating and saving lists, requesting items, and managing your library account.  When you are signed in, you will also see an option to save your searches by clicking Save Query at the top of your search results. You will be notified by email when new sources are published that match your search, your query.
