Creating Search Keywords
Advanced Searching Techniques
Once you've determined keywords to produce relevant search results for your topic, use the following techniques to filter and refine your results:
AND |
Type AND in-between keywords to find results that contain both keywords. Must be in all caps. |

OR |
Type OR in-between keywords to find results that contain either of the keywords Must be in all caps.(useful when you have synonyms or related words that mean the same thing) |
societal standards OR social mores |
Quotations " " |
Use quotes to search for a multi-word concept or phrase exactly |
"gender dynamics" |
Asterisk Symbol * |
Use * to include alternate word endings |
e.g. feminis* would search for the words feminist and feminism |
Parenthesis ( ) |
use parentheses to create separate groups of actions in your search - similar to a math equation |
