Consider the different story elements that Silvia Moreno-Garcia develops in her novel Mexican Gothic. In your essay, identify one or more of these elements and analyze how they help to reveal Moreno-Garcia’s theme. Include evidence from at least one secondary source to support your connections.
OR
Consider the focus placed on the natural world as it is explored in Mexican Gothic. Using evidence from the story, as well as another secondary source, consider how Silvia Moreno-Garcia uses nature, animals, and mushrooms to reveal her theme(s)?
OR
Using evidence from Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia evaluate whether the novel supports, refutes, or complicates Jon Greenaway's claims in “The Horror of Capitalism”. Select an additional source to explore Moreno-Garcia’s use of horror.

Examine up to three character transformations / metamorphosis seen in Mexican Gothic. In a 5-6 page essay, using supporting evidence from the essay by Carole Scott, analyze and identify how this character’s change reflects a theme or societal critique.
