Books We Read Online

The online version of Books We Read, a program at Chang to promote books, libraries, and information literacy through recreational reading.

Saw the movie? Read the book!

How come books are better than the movies? It sounds like a high school essay, right? We all grew up with cartoons, then movies, since watching them was easier than reading books, blah-blah. But this is not an excuse any longer! We have heard from many enthusiastic students the sentence "I didn't know there was so much more to it" once they read the book. It's worth a try.  BUT: Never judge a book by its - movie!

Book to Movie Adaptations

The titles below are available electronically from Rutgers University Libraries. Please log in with your NetID when prompted.

Harry Potter Books in Print

Rutgers Libraries do not have any Harry Potter books available electronically. In addition to your local public library, the Internet Archive has both audio books (American version read by Jim Dale, British by Stephen Fry) and ebooks to borrow for 14 days with a free account.

Caution: although many web sites offer free downloads of Harry Potter (e.g., legitimately, with Audible trial), please be careful with these sources. Everyone loves Harry Potter, including the hackers!
