Instructions, guidelines, and best practices for creating and maintaining LibGuides at Rutgers University Libraries.

Statistics

To view usage statistics for your guides:

  1. Click on Statistics in the dashboard menu
  2. Select your guide(s) from the drop-down menu
  3. Choose whether you want to view daily or monthly statistics
  4. Enter a date range
  5. Click Run

Note: You can also view statistics for any assets in the system (links, widgets, documents, etc.) by clicking on the Assets tab.

Tips for Reviewing Statistics

  • Review usage statistics for your guides at least once per year. Consider weeding or revising guides with low usage.
  • Review usage of assets to see what links, books, and other resources your users are using. (Note: Only links that are created as assets (i.e., using link boxes) are counted in statistics.)
  • LibGuides only tracks pageviews. More detailed usage data may be available through Google Analytics. For access to Google Analytics, contact the system administrator
