Instructions, guidelines, and best practices for creating and maintaining LibGuides at Rutgers University Libraries.
Guide Options
Use the Guide Edit bar in the upper-right corner to edit guide options.
Guide Information
- Guide Metadata - Not applicable. This feature is not in use.
- Guide Type & Group - Do not use Guide Type. Group setting is only applicable to Health Sciences guides.
- Redirect URL - Use if guide is intended as a "placeholder" that redirects to another webpage.
- Guide Editors - Allow others to edit your guide. Editors may edit all aspects of your guide except for publication status.
- Access Restrictions - Restrict others from copying or reusing your guide.
- Delete Guide - Delete your guide from the system.
Guide Layout
- Guide Navigation Layout - Not applicable. System default is set to tab layout.
- Custom CSS/JS - Not applicable. To ensure consistency across the system, do not add custom CSS or JavaScript.
(Note: If you have special needs that require custom coding, contact the system administrator.) - Previous/Next Links - Add links to the bottom of your guide directing users to the next page.
- Tab & Box Options - Not applicable. To ensure consistency across the system, tab and box style cannot be customized.
- Display as a Single Page - Allows your guide to be displayed as a single page.
Guide Tools
- Create HTML Backup - Create an HTML copy of your guide for reference.
(Note: You cannot restore deleted content using this copy, but you can refer to it in order to re-create it.) - Request XML Export - Export your data as XML to be imported into other systems.
Guide Preview
- Allows you to view your guide as it appears to your users. This feature is especially useful for viewing content such as embedded videos or widgets that do not display in edit mode.
