LibGuides Author Manual

Instructions, guidelines, and best practices for creating and maintaining LibGuides at Rutgers University Libraries.

What are Assets?

Assets are the individual pieces of content that you add to your guides such as links, books, documents, and widgets. Whenever you add one of these content items to a guide, it becomes part of a shared asset repository.

The asset repository allows you to:

  • Re-use previously created assets in any guide
  • View every guide in which a particular asset appears
  • Edit an asset without having to update each guide in which it appears

Note: Assets do not include Rich text/HTML content.

Managing Assets

To manage your assets

  • Go to Content > Assets
  • Filter assets by name, type, description, and owner
  • Use the icons on the left to edit or delete an asset

Deleting Assets

Deleting assets from a guide (or deleting an entire guide) does not remove assets from the system. The only way to permanently delete an asset is to delete it from the asset repository by going to Content > Assets.
