Access to ArcGIS online and ArcPro

Access to ArcGIS online and ArcPro uses Single Sign On authentication using Rutgers NetID/Password.
There are many integrated applications including StoryMaps and many training resources available with an account.
More information can be found at the Rutgers Software Portal.

Create an ArcGIS Online/ArcGIS.com account using Single Sign On (SSO) via Rutgers NetID 

  • Go to:    https://rutgers.maps.arcgis.com
  • Click the Sign In button on the upper right
  • Click on the Rutgers University NetID Login button
  • Enter your NetID and NetID password and click the Log In button

Download ArcGIS Pro

  • Go to:    https://rutgers.maps.arcgis.com
  • Sign into ArcGIS Online
  • Click on your username
  • Click 'My Settings'
  • From the list of assigned licenses, next to ArcGIS Pro, click 'Download'
  • Complete the installation as directed

Create an ArcPro account using Single Sign On (SSO) via Rutgers NetID 

  • Open ArcGIS Pro
  • At the ArcGIS Sign In screen, click on the Your ArcGIS organization’s URL button
  • At the next screen, enter rutgers in the box
  • Check the Remember this URL box and click Continue
  • Click the Rutgers University NetID Login button
  • Enter your NetID and NetID password and click the Log In button

ArcPro is also available through the The Rutgers Virtual Computer Labs and in most general Rutgers computing labs if a Windows OS or larger compute environment is needed.

Shared Update Groups in ArcGIS

Creating a Group in ArcGIS Online facilitates collaboration.
Please send an email to gis-help@rutgers.edu to have a collaborative group established that allows all members to contribute and edit all content.

ArcGIS Tutorials and Training Resources

These links will help you get started with ArcGIS.   The Libraries offer workshops and individual consultations. There are courses are available through the Office of Continuing Education of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (for a fee).

Official ESRI ArcGIS Training Resources
A regularly updated collection of ArcGIS trainings offered online.  ESRI provides both video and traditional tutorial guides as well as MOOCs and web courses.  The topics range in complexity, from those designed for beginners for the suite of applications, to more advanced subjects like analytics, data management, python scripting, creating web-based geo-applications and StoryMaps.

GIS Dictionary
Defines all acronyms and terminology used in ESRI ArcGIS applications as well as other GISs.  It is a useful tool for learning standard GIS terminology.

GeoDeltaLabs
A youtube channel with instructional videos covering ArcGIS, Google Earth, QGIS and other GIS related topics.
