HRM (Human Resource Management) Research: A Quick Guide

HRM research can be challenging. It is an interdisciplinary field, demanding knowledge of sources in business, psychology, law, and even medicine at times. This Quick Guide will get you started.

Before You Start Your Research

Doing research in Human Resource Management can be challenging.  It is an interdisciplinary field, demanding knowledge of information resources in psychology, sociology, law, business, and even at times medicine and chemistry.  The resources presented below were selected to help you, the beginning researcher, decide where to start your research process.

Before you start looking for information, think about what keywords describe your question or topic.  Terms in the business & management field have a habit of changing, so if you are not sure, take a look at a current business magazine or The Wall St. Journal.  Some databases also give help in selecting keywords.

Think about whether you the information you are seeking is current or historical, business-oriented or legal, if you need text or data.  Asking these questions helps you determine where to start--articles database, book, legal database, statistics webpage, etc.
