How to Get Computing Help and Services
Your ticket will be serviced by IIS staff or local Unit Computing Specialists (UCSs).
At https://rulhelp.rutgers.edu, you can find a more detailed description of all IIS services, including a growing Knowledge Base for self-help.
Email and shared calendar (Zimbra)
Zimbra is the name of the collaboration service operated by Rutgers’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) and managed by IIS, providing email, calendaring/scheduling, address book, and document services for RUL faculty and staff (except Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences: RBHS faculty and staff are currently served by the OIT-based Information Services and Technology department).
For help with Zimbra, submit a trouble ticket at https://rulhelp.rutgers.edu, email help@rulmail.rutgers.edu, or call 848-445-5896, option 0.
To access your email in a browser, go to https:rulmail.rutgers.edu, or use your preferred email client like Microsoft Outlook.

Library catalog and related services are also supported by IIS. For help, submit a trouble ticket at https://rulhelp.rutgers.edu, or call 848-445-5896, option 3.
The RUL website
The central RUL website, http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu, is managed by the IIS Web Team and authored by RUL Faculty. Librarians can create LibGuide pages themselves. For help, submit a trouble ticket at https://rulhelp.rutgers.edu, email rulweb@rulmail.rutgers.edu, or call 848-445-5896, option 6.
Phones
Presently, VoIP telephones managed by IIS are only installed on New Brunswick/Piscataway campuses. For help, submit a trouble ticket at https://rulhelp.rutgers.edu, email iistech@rulmail.rutgers.edu, or call 848-445-5896, option 0.
Phones at Camden and Newark are managed by local departments.
Institutional Repository (RUcore) Services
RUcore is a digital repository for the significant intellectual property of Rutgers University, its libraries, faculty, and their collaborators. Development of RUcore services is managed by faculty and staff at the Scholarly Communication Center (SCC), a department of Technical and Automated Services, and maintained by IIS staff.
Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) have replaced printed theses and dissertations for most Rutgers graduate programs and are submitted and accessible through RUcore.
For more information about RUcore or ETD, visit the RUcore page at https://rucore.libraries.rutgers.edu, or email Rhonda Marker at rmarker@rulmail.rutgers.edu.
Computing Support Provided Directly by the Office of Information Technology
Sakai
Sakai is a learning management system designed to supplement Rutgers classes and for group and inter-committee communication within the Libraries. For help, visit http://rci.rutgers.edu/~oirt/sakai/helpdocs2/.
ScarletApps
ScarletApps is the Rutgers implementation of Google Apps for Education used primarily for student email and by some Rutgers schools and departments, although not by RUL. The ScarletApps suite includes the core Google hosted applications: Gmail, Docs, Calendar, Talk, Video and Sites.
OIT Computing Help Contacts by Campus
Direct OIT support is primarily used for help with NetID and Sakai issues. For all other questions, contact IIS or your local USC.
