The Kids Count Data Center is an interactive database from the Anne E. Casey Foundation, with geographically-organized data based on various Census Bureau surveys.
The Urban Information Center at the University of Missouri-St. Louis has made available ACS Trends Reports which allow for annual comparisons of American Community Survey data over the 2006 to 2010 period, for many geographic entities. The earlier Demographic Profile 3 Trend Reports Using Data From SF3, 1990 & 2000 is still available.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Employment and Training Institute provides access to Purchasing Power Profiles for 16 different types of consumer expenditures for the top 100 , all Census tracts and residential ZIP codes in the U.S.
To find Census data using maps, consult Social Explorer. This site provides access to selected data sets for censuses from 1790-2010, with the display of graphical maps. Rutgers users should connect to this Rutgers-restricted version of Social Explorer.
PolicyMap also displays many popular categories of demographic information as maps, including population, income, home ownership, and education. The underlying data is derived from both government and commercial sources. Rutgers users should connect to this Rutgers-restricted version of PolicyMap.
Just in time before the upcoming elections, PolicyMap technology is enabling the development of this new site (underwritten by CitiGroup) with data presented by Congressional District: My DistrictData.
For selected data mapped by county from the annual American Community Survey, 2006-2008, there is the 2010 Plus Mapping Project from the Lewis Mumford Center for Comparative Urban and Regional Research at the University at Albany.
Finally, there is CensusScope, which is a portal to Census 2010 and 2000 data, charts, graphs and maps. This site is a product of the Social Science Data Analysis Network (SSDAN) at the University of Michigan.
You can locate the census tract number for a specific address at the U.S. Census Bureau American Factfinder Select Geographies Search page using the "address" or "map" option.
For maps of census tracts in any community, go to 2010 Census - Census Tract Reference Maps and click on your state, then county. Then select the PDF file for your county or select the first PDF file to locate the tracts for your part of the county.
