Short Term Loans for Non-Circulating Material

Occasional requests to borrow material that is normally non-circulating may be referred to the reference desk. Such requests are usually based on the need to make copies or scan in the department or to show material in a class.

A librarian can complete a form to allow a user a short term loan. Alternatively, a librarian can walk the person over to the Circulation Desk and give verbal permission for the loan to the staff member on duty. RAs should never approve the loan of non-circulating material.

Access Services staff will check out the material to the user entering the due date as specified by the librarian. Brief records will be created as needed, and materials will fall into the normal process with regard to overdue notices, etc.
