Data Services: Vietnam Household Living Standards Survey

Describes numeric data resources and services

Description

The Vietnam Household Living Standards Survey (VHLSS) is an ongoing longitudinal survey of the Vietnamese population that has been conducted in several waves. The Rutgers University Libraries have purchased data files for 1992/1993, 1997/1998, 2002, and 2004. Questions were asked of more than 30,000 households on income, expenditures, economic activity, education, healthcare, and available infrastructure such as electricity, water, roads, and more. Summary information from the VHLSS is available from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam. The data files available from the Libraries are the complete microdata from the survey waves.  Data files are primarily in Stata format, with questionnaires and other documentation reproduced in Excel and Word.  The original documentation is in Vietnamese.  Most, but not all, of the documentation has been translated into English.

Accessing the Data

Only Rutgers University faculty, staff, and students may access the data.  Due to confidentiality concerns, users of the data must sign a confidentiality agreement before being granted access to the data.  Please contact Ryan Womack, Data Librarian, if you are interested in access.
