Remote Access to Software

Computing Services provides the remote application platform, apps.rutgers.edu.  In addition to a standard suite of internet and productivity software, apps lets you remotely access many statistical, math, and scientific software, and execute procedures on Rutgers' computers.  Software available to students and faculty includes GNU PSPP, Mathematica, Maple, MATLAB, Maxima, PSPP, R, R Commander, Sage, SAS, SPSS and STATA.  

If you have not used apps.rutgers.edu before, you must register to use it at this link.  Note that you can also login via to apps.rutgers.edu/novnc/ to use a version that reduces the use of java.

Computing Lab Resources

New Brunswick computer labs include the following software:

  • ArcGIS
  • Eviews
  • Maple
  • Mathematica
  • Matlab
  • SAS
  • SPSS

Data Workstations in Alexander Library

Note, due to the low volume of usage and the availability of the remote apps platform, the Libraries have removed the data workstations in Alexander Library.  CensusCD software will be made available on government documents workstations.
